INDIANA 5-STAR ENVIRONMENTAL RECOGNITION FOR CHILD CARE FACILITIES

A hallmark of IDEM's Children Initiative is an education and recognition program for child care facilities that go above and beyond compliance with the environmental health and safety regulations to further protect children and reach out to their families. IDEM awards stars based on the accomplishments of the facilities. The childcare facilities that can participate include, ministries, centers, and homes.

• This recognition provides parents with important information on environmental issues that directly effect children. The facilities that have succeeded thus far have achieved stars for going above compliance requirements and completing activities such as asbestos inspections, lead risk assessments, radon tests, and implementation of integrated pest management strategies.
